Unlock Strength, Stability & Smart Movement for Jiu-Jitsu

Join Oakland’s Most Powerful (OMP) for a specialized, hands-on workshop designed to help Jiu-Jitsu practitioners develop strength, mobility, and resilience through the Turkish Get-Up (TGU).

As part of 10th Planet Grass Valley’s Grand Opening Month, this free training session is part of a larger effort to bring high-quality movement and strength education to the local grappling community. Every Saturday in April, 10th Planet Grass Valley, in collaboration with Homestead Training Center, will host two free training sessions per day. We are honored to be part of this initiative and share our expertise in strength training for BJJ.

 

Why Train the Turkish Get-Up for Jiu-Jitsu?

The Turkish Get-Up (TGU) is more than just an exercise—it is a highly effective movement system that strengthens positional awareness, core engagement, and stability under pressure. In this workshop, you will learn how to apply the TGU directly to Jiu-Jitsu training, improving your ability to:

Build a Stronger Base – Improve positional stability, guard retention, and postural endurance in all phases of grappling.

Enhance Movement Efficiency – Develop better mobility, hip engagement, and coordinated transitions that translate to smoother sweeps and stand-ups.

Increase Shoulder & Core Resilience – Strengthen the shoulder girdle and trunk for injury prevention and improved control under pressure.

Develop Strength & Endurance for Scrambles – The TGU enhances full-body coordination and strengthens muscles that drive explosive movements in grappling exchanges.

 

Workshop Structure

This is a hands-on training session that includes:

🔹 Step-by-Step Breakdown – Learn each phase of the Get-Up with detailed instruction.

🔹 Live Demonstrations & Key BJJ Applications – Understand how to incorporate the Get-Up into your training for maximum carryover to Jiu-Jitsu.

🔹 Drills & Live Troubleshooting – Receive direct feedback and real-time corrections to refine your movement.

🔹 Strength & Mobility Integration – Practice how to apply Get-Up principles to your strength practice for greater efficiency and effectiveness.
