Address:
HomeGrown AthletX (HGX)
551 Taylor Way Units 3-6 San Carlos, CA 94070

Join us for 2-hrs of Hard Style Abs and the Get-Up or a 4-hr dive into the KB Clean, Press, and Snatch! Can't decide? Do both!
Suggested KB 201 Prerequisites:
To attend our KB 201: Rite of Passage workshop, we encourage you to be competent in swings, get-ups, and goblet squats. Ignore at your peril.
Learn these skills from a Kettlebell 101 workshop, a StrongFirst accredited gym, or a StrongFirst certified SFG instructor.
Kettlebell 201: Rite of Passage
The Snatch is “the Tsar of the kettlebell lifts.” Achieve total body explosive power, ruthless conditioning, and a vice like grip.
➊ Once you have reached the impressive yet realistic “Timeless Simple” standard, you have choices to make. Stay on a monastic diet of swings and get-ups, slowly chipping away at “Sinister.” Or try something “same but different”: the snatch plus the clean and military press, the classic Rite of Passage.
➋ The Snatch is “the Tsar of the kettlebell lifts.” Thanks to more muscles working and twice the distance travelled, it accomplishes even more than the esteemed swing. Achieve total body explosive power, ruthless conditioning, and a vice like grip. Burn fat like never before. All with a lighter kettlebell—save space in your home, car trunk, or deployment kit.
➌ Once we have taught you the skills with our usual attention to detail, we will send you off to succeed with a Strong Endurance™ snatch plan.
➍ The one-arm Clean-and-Press will rival any other pressing exercise when it comes to shoulder strength and muscular development. It is untouchable when it comes to shoulder health, thanks to its ergonomic perfection.
➎ The military press comes equipped with the “Rite of Passage” type programming—possibly the most reliable progression ever.
Three versions of the ROP—“Jurassic,” “907 Hypertrophy,” and “Heavy”—will keep you gaining for a long time.
Kettlebell 201 ROP sets high goals—and gives you the skills and the roadmap to reach them.
Do you have what it takes?

*Bonus* Mini Workshop: Hard Style Abs & the Get-Up
➊ Hard Style Abs : How to set YOUR posture, and engage your power generators for safe execution of the Hard Style Plank (supine and standing) and how to optimize and connect using our Hard Style Abs principles during the phases of the Get-Up
➋ Get-Up: How to safely, effectively set up YOUR structure (from the ground to your grip)to execute the Get-Up.
➌ How to use the Get-Up for movement prep, to create more joint space and movement, to increase strength, and how to use the Get-Up for specific objectives learning about loads and intensities most appropriate for your current skill and strength levels
➍ How to safely apply your breath and add tension to maximize strength and relaxation in your movements
➎ How to apply fast and loose techniques between reps and sets as needed for effective recovery

StrongFirst Open Day
The StrongFirst Open Day is a free, one-day event that is an unmissable opportunity to get in touch with our school of strength; for those who don't know kettlebells and want to try them; for instructors, athletic trainers, athletes, and enthusiasts; for those interested in becoming a Strong First certified instructor. In other words, FOR EVERYONE!
The lessons are led in rotation by StrongFirst Leadership members and are supported by StrongFirst Certified Instructors from all over California.
The day will begin with movement preparation, focused on improving joint space, mobility, and coordination.
During the kettlebell lessons, you will learn the foundation skills of Hard Style kettlebell training presented in a safe, accessible way for all students, preparing for immediate application and practice.
The StrongFirst Open Days are days full of technical content, but the right amount of space is also given to action and fun. Most technical lessons conclude with a final workout, where you can put into practice what you have learned and enjoy the benefits of a healthy workout.
Each lesson will always be carried out with an eye towards safety, which StrongFirst sees as an integral part of athletic performance and which is, therefore, always put first.
Education, fun, and safety are, therefore, the fundamental themes of StrongFirst Open Day.
If you are interested in Hard Style kettlebell training (and learning the principles that carry over to your barbell and bodyweight training), want to get stronger, learn to move better, increase your performance and resilience, and improve your physical appearance, this is the event for you for you!
Join us for this special event, where you will become stronger, learn to move better, and have fun safely!

Barbell 301: SFL Ready
The final step in your journey towards the StrongFirst Lifter Instructor Certification is mastering the squat.
If you are committed to building as much muscle as your frame can carry, you must back squat—there are no “ifs” or “buts” about it.
Done right, the Back Squat is a builder with no equals. Done wrong, it can wreck you for good. Our instruction is obsessively precise.
The Front Squat is more democratic. For most athletes it is a better choice than the back squat—unless hypertrophy is the top priority.
The Good Morning is another “restricted entry” exercise. It is the “grind” counterpart of the kettlebell swing. The GM trains the entire posterior chain, from the base of your skull to your feet. Strength gains directly carry over to the SQ, the DL, and great many athletic applications.
Barbell 301 will give you all the tools to prepare for the most exclusive and detailed barbell strength instructor certification—StrongFirst Lifter (SFL)—including an exact training cycle specially designed to prepare you for the tests.

*Bonus* Mini Workshop: Hard Style Abs & the Zercher Squat:
➊ Hard Style Abs: How to set YOUR posture, and engage your power generators for safe execution of preparatory Hard Style Ab variations targeted to support Barbell Military Press set up, strength, and execution.
➋ Zercher Squat: How to safely, effectively set YOUR structure up (from the ground up to your 360 braced trunk) for the Zercher Squat intensity most appropriate for your current skill and strength level and how to gain strength and control through your current range.
➌ How to safely apply your breath and add tension to maximize strength in your movements.
➍ How to apply fast and loose techniques between reps and sets as needed for effective recovery.

Kettlebell 301: SFG Ready Workshop-San Carlos, CA USA
Date:
November 4, 2023
Time:
10:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Address:
Advanced Sports Performance
505 Quarry Rd., San Carlos CA 94070
$80-$225
Read below and choose the right workshop for you or register for the combo and join us for both!
Suggested KB 301 Prerequisites:
To have a safe, high-quality experience in this workshop, we encourage you to be competent in swings, get-ups, goblet squats, snatches, cleans, and presses.
Learn these skills from a Kettlebell 101 workshop, a Kettlebell 201 workshop, a StrongFirst accredited gym, or a StrongFirst certified SFG instructor.
Kettlebell 301: SFG Ready
You have been around the kettlebell block. It is time to set your sights high: the SFG Kettlebell Instructor Certification (SFG I) or be open to a deep dive into your foundational hard style KB skills.
Among the many challenges you will have to face at this life changing event are the double kettlebell drills. The “double trouble”…
If you have enough strength and muscle mass to satisfy you, stick with single kettlebell training.
If you do not, read on.
For all the good arguments made by the “functional training” advocates in favor of training one side of the body at a time, they missed one key point. Once you have reached a certain level of strength and muscular development, it is difficult to go beyond if you stick with unilateral loading, be it with a single kettlebell, or some other modality. You will not find NFL linemen who arrived by doing “Bulgarian split squats.”
The strongest people stand on both feet and press and pull with both hands when they lift. Because no unilateral exercise can replicate the jolt to your endocrine system delivered by a heavy bilateral load.
(None of the above diminishes the value of training one side at a time to pursue the body symmetry while preparing oneself for the life’s asymmetry. No point in blaming the screwdriver for being a poor hammer.)
Double kettlebell training has an unforgivingly high entry barrier: mobility, stability, and symmetry of an Olympic weightlifter or a yoga expert. You had to pay your Kettlebell 101 and 201 dues before taking on the 301.
At the Kettlebell 301 workshop you will learn:
➊ The Double Swing—“it makes theory real”
➋ The Double Clean—a fantastic total body builder and a great expression of athletic power
➌ The Double Front Squat—brutal on the legs, easy on the joints; unexpectedly, a killer ab drill
➍ The Double Military Press—a classic test of strength and upper body developer
➎ A “plug-and-play” Plan Strong™ training template to advance your squats and presses for many months to come
A 2.0 version of the “GPR” training plan legendary for its ability to put meat on one’s shoulders, back, and forearms, boost the hip power, and burn fat—all at once
A meticulously designed total training program that will make you SFG Ready—the exact exercises, weights, sets, reps, rest periods, and periodization leading up to success at the challenging SFG I Kettlebell Instructor Certification
We will also review all the drills tested at the SFG I cert, including the swing, the get-up, and the snatch.
After Kettlebell 301 you have almost arrived—you have all the tools to prepare for the gold standard SFG Kettlebell Instructor Certification. To spread the word of strength to others—or to challenge yourself “because it’s there.”

CHECK-IN: begins at 11:30 am on July 10, 2023
CONTACT: Email all registration and other questions to coach@ompgym.com.
Cancellation and Refund Policy: Cancellation of the Strong Start Course can be made within 7 days of the first day of the course with a $125 cancellation fee.
As each kettlebell skill builds on the previous techniques learned, any missed class should be made up by watching the recording of the missed class so that the student does not fall behind. After watching the missed class recording, please take the initiative to ask questions about the new technique you missed! You can ask questions on the Strong Start Discord channel &/or send in videos for form checks &/or come to open gym times to get extra coaching.
If tuning into classes via Zoom, please note that coaching and individualized cueing is only possible when the student’s camera is turned on.
Completion of all 12 classes is expected prior to jumping into group classes. Students will have the most rewarding learning experience when they take full advantage of the personalized coaching they receive in the Strong Start Course where the focus is on learning as a beginner before jumping into the All Levels membership where the focus is on fine-tuning.
Registration is for specific days and times. Due to space and equipment limitations and in order to keep the coach/student ratio in check, members cannot make up a class in a different Strong Start cycle.

Barbell 201: Stand Strong
Barbell 201 is old school at its best: the Military Press and the Zercher Squat.
The Military Press is a classic that ought to be treated right. Others will show you how to press strict and weak—or how to put up a lot of weight sloppily. We press strict and strong, the way Soviet weightlifters did in the early 1960s.
The Zercher Squat is the ultimate “squat for the people!” Simple technique. No strain on the wrists, shoulders, or elbows. No need for a rack or a spotter. A great carryover to sports and other lifts. As a bonus, an unbelievable training effect on the absTo put it bluntly, whatever passes for “pullups” at most gyms and playgrounds is a joke.
Sign up and power to you!

➋ Pistol Squat: How to safely, effectively set YOUR structure up (from the ground up to your hollow trunk) for the pistol squat variation most appropriate for your current skill and strength level and how to gain range of motion and strength from there
➌ How to safely apply your breath and add tension to maximize strength in your movements
➍ How to apply fast and loose techniques between reps and sets as needed for effective recovery
➎ Real-time practice and troubleshooting with our StrongFirst Certified Teachers of Strength team
Whether you are a beginner in the strength world, an avid lifter, or a recreational athlete getting back into it, our team is honored to share in the education and strength with you!.
