Your Strength Starts Here - KB Strength Fundamentals

A beginner-friendly kettlebell class that builds confidence, technique, and a foundation for lifelong strength.

  • We meet in person and on Zoom on Mondays and Wednesdays at noon, and on Saturdays at 9 am for 55 minutes.


KB Strength Fundamentals
is our new starting point for all things kettlebell.

Whether you're brand-new to strength training or looking to rebuild your foundation, this class series teaches you how to move with power, control, and confidence — using kettlebells the StrongFirst way.

This isn’t a course. It’s an ongoing, coach-led program built around an 8-week rotating curriculum, giving you time to develop real skills at a pace that fits your life.

From your first swing to your first clean and press, you’ll build the strength, mobility, and movement patterns that carry over to our full KB Strength and KB Strength Endurance classes.

  • In this class, you’ll practice:

    • The 2-Hand and 1-Hand Kettlebell Swing

    • Turkish Get-Up fundamentals

    • Front rack holds and carries

    • The Goblet Squat + bodyweight squatting progressions

    • Kettlebell Cleans + an introduction to pressing

    • Joint mobility and breathing for strength

    • Grip strength, core training, and better body awareness

    • Foundational techniques you’ll use in our KB Strength and Endurance classes

  • KB Strength Fundamentals runs 3x per week, giving you plenty of chances to train and repeat the skills you’re learning.

    • Classes follow an 8-week rotating curriculum

    • Expect to see progress week to week, even if you’re starting from zero

    • Rotating coaches bring diverse experience, cues, and support

    Whether you can train once a week or three times, we’ll meet you where you’re at.

    • Beginners new to kettlebells or strength training

    • Parents and everyday athletes looking to train smarter

    • Anyone returning to movement after a break or injury

    • People who want small group support without the “bootcamp” vibe

    • Anyone seeking a powerful, safe, skill-based strength practice in Oakland

    We keep our classes small so you get plenty of coaching — and we always prioritize learning, safety, and long-term progress over just “getting sweaty.”

  • KB Strength Fundamentals is your starting point — slower pace, more technique work, and focused on building the core kettlebell skills.
    KB Strength and KB Strength Endurance are our mainline strength programs and follow similar 8-week cycles, but with more advanced movements and conditioning.

  • Since the curriculum repeats every 8 weeks, you can continue building your skills and progressing into our KB Strength and KB Strength Endurance classes when you're ready — or stay in Fundamentals as long as you'd like.

  • Classes are capped at 15 people max, so you get plenty of coaching and personalized feedback each session.

  • Not at all. We focus on quality movement, skill development, and strength — not speed or exhaustion. You’ll leave class feeling stronger, more connected to your body, and more confident in your technique.

  • Depending on how much experience you have with Hard Style kettlebell training, you may see some things you are already familiar with. If you have trained a different kettlebell style, are picking kettlebells up after a long time, or have less than 2 years kettlebell experience, you will benefit from this course. We dive into a TON of detail with techniques that will clarify what you might not have known or verify what you thought you knew.

  • 100%. This class is built for beginners and taught by certified StrongFirst instructors who love helping people start from square one. We’ll break down every skill and adjust for your pace and experience.
